lack or abundance

What beliefs dominate your mindset? What’s your MO?

When you consider opportunities in your life, do you gravitate to feeling like you can’t have what you want, that you can’t figure out the problem ahead, or worse, that you’re not worthy of receiving what you long for?

Those thoughts and feelings stem from a scarcity mindset.

What you focus on is what you receive.

For months last year, I operated from a scarcity mindset. I lost faith in myself, my talents, and my ability, so almost everything I approached filtered through that lens. Feeling unworthy spilled over into my relationships, work, and writing.

  • Why should I try publishing anything? I don’t have as much writing experience as others, so my writing sucks.
  • I don’t have a large following, so who am I that people will read what I write?
  • I’m an introvert. I don’t have a big personality that will attract new readers.

Trust me, the list is much longer. If you’re operating from a scarcity mindset, flip the switch.

Don’t get it twisted. I am not suggesting that you “Fake it until you make it”… I’ve never liked that expression. Think, “The show must go on” instead.

As an actress (many moons ago), I learned that your audience doesn’t respond to lack. Instead, the energy you give is the energy you get back. You must show up to the stage prepared to be authentic because faking it won’t cut it.

Acting isn’t faking. Acting is believing with total commitment. A well-trained actress commands her performance when she operates from faith and dedication to her character and surroundings. The same is true in life.

You must believe with total abandon that you are capable and worthy to receive what you set your heart and mind to achieve.

Affirmations (or positive phrases or statements) challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts. They work when we believe in them and use them regularly.

Here are my flipped-script limiting beliefs revised with a prosperity and abundance mindset shift:

  • I’m a better writer than last year. The more I write, the better I’ll get.
  • My experiences have value and can benefit others.
  • Arrogance is loud. Confidence is silent.
  • No matter what, I will be myself and trust that I can attract readers who appreciate me.

Rather than a scarcity mindset, I choose to believe in and practice abundance.

We receive what we believe.

What limiting beliefs hold you back?
