Big news (and the BEST birthday gift I received) is my latest kidney test results.
So… while I technically have Stage 2 Kidney Disease, my blood work showed some slight improvement, and thankfully, the ultrasound showed no kidney stones or abnormalities!
For now, I don’t need a kidney biopsy or meds, and if I adopt and maintain a renal diet, I could see some improvement by my next check-up in six months.
Granted, I was dehydrated the day of my last blood draw (I know, I know 🙄), so that might have skewed the results, buuut… that’s a long shot since CKD runs (gallops, actually 🥺) in my family.
We’ll see what happens in the next few months.
There’s good news on the thyroid front, too, but that’s a story for another time.
The bottom line is that I’m okay.
Actually, I am more than okay because I’m basking in gratitude for all of the goodness in my life:
✨ I live in paradise with my love.
✨ I have the best supportive circle of friends and family.
✨ My weight and waistline rebounded & I can fit my clothes again!
✨ I have projects that feed my soul and help others share their truth.
✨ Despite recent health scares and injuries, I’m leveling up my Pickleball game!
About Stage 2 CKD
“People with stage 2 CKD have an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) between 60 and 89 and ongoing kidney damage for three months or more.
“Kidney damage” can mean many things and often presents as albuminuria—having a urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR) of 30 or more for at least three months. Other examples of kidney damage can include frequent or long-lasting urinary tract infections (UTIs), blood in the urine (hematuria), kidney stones, kidney cysts, and abnormal findings during medical imaging (ultrasound, MRI, or CT scan) or urinalysis.” -National Kidney Foundation

“Grateful For” by Natalie Layne
But even the stress of a million cares
Can’t cover the blessings You put everywhere
It don’t take rose-colored glasses
To see the gold in the madness…
I’ll take a look around
There’s something to be grateful
Something to be grateful for
It’s waiting to be found
Underneath the surface
Everything I’m searching for
Couldn’t find it in me
But I found it in You…
Thanks for reading. I appreciate you.
